Is this for real?

Slackware and git

Slackware announced it's move to using git to ease the bandwidth pain.

This looks legitimate but go to http://slackware.com/ and review from there.

Where was this announcement? I may be missing it but can find nothing on the official Slackware site. Looks more like a "holding" page on github.

Patrick never announced such a thing. Will not happen either.

It doesn't make sense for Slackware, a distro, to have a github page. You use git when you develop software. From what I see, slackware uses software as-is from the various FLOSS projects. I don't see the point of git in the development of a distro. What would be in the git repository ?

The SlackBuilds could be stored there, as well as sources for custom packages like the init scripts. Just answering the question.

That might actually be a good use for it.
