Slackware -current make trackpad scroll normal

So I've installed a slightly earlier version of -current than is out now and installed the 2.6.38.2-smp kernel on my Asus eeePC. Normally (both on this computer and every other laptop I've used, other than Macs) you scroll by swiping one finger up/down the right side of the trackpad. This installation, however, has made the scroll similar to the Mac scroll (two fingers anywhere on the trackpad, swiping up or down). How do I change it back?

PS. I have no xorg.conf file

in case you are using the synaptics driver (http://freshmeat.net/projects/synaptics/)
there is a program to configure this driver 'synclient'

when running it will show the config the interesting one are:
VertTwoFingerScroll = 0 (by default 1)
HorizTwoFingerScroll = 0

so run it as :

'synclient VertTwoFingerScroll=0'

probably this is more the behavior you like.

you can use 'man synclient' to see more options to configure because this driver supports
more things which might be useful

Thanks, that did the trick. Might use this to procrastinate studying for my exam tomorrow.

One last question: how do I make these settings permanent?

You need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf
If you don't have it create it or copy /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf and edit.

I ran into the same issue. I added the synclient command to the list of autostarted applications in XFCE. This creates a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostart/ thus should run under any freedesktop.org compliant window manager at login.

Sounds like one of these two solutions will work (probably both of them, but I only need one). Thanks for helping me out.
