Slackware -current and video quality

Hi,

I don't know if it's just me, if I'm imagining this, or if this is something real. Anyway, here goes.

On the latest count, I have four installations of Slackware -current. Two with WindowMaker, two with Xfce. The machine (my build server) has a rather crappy video card.

Code:
# lspci | grep -i vga
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Electronics Systems Ltd. Millennium P690 (rev 01)
After installing the latest updates from -current and rebooting, the video display quality improved radically. There was a sudden "wow" effect. Everything seems much clearer now. And yes, I cleaned my glasses before upgrading, so it's not that.

Is this the new kernel?

Wow... Dunno for your 'effect', but What ? A Matrox Millenium ! Wow I haven't heard of it since I coded VESA in assembler !

Good old times of hacking "real-mode" addressing in DOS, and paged video memory...

Thanks Niki to make me feel out-dated !

Curiously enough, this card was shipping in an HP Elite workstation equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor.
