slackware-current and intel IGP

I have read some of the recent issues with the newer kernels and intel IGP. It is not quite clear to me whether these are breaking issues or just annoying quirks.

I would like to install slackware-current, and I am aware that it is not really suited for production. However I need some of the newer stuff in Slackware-current to run certain programs, which I can not install on slackware 14.2

Can anyone here, that is running slackware-current With a laptop with an intel IGP, tell Whether they can use slackware current with an intel IGP?
(mine is a 9 year old laptop with sandy bridge processor, which is I guess, HD Graphics 3000) Or is it better for me to wait a while, before moving to current?

I don't have recent Slack-current on a laptop, but on an AS-Rock ITX desktop board with integrated Intel graphics, I've had one (but only one) lockup over the last week with Slack current on a 5.4.19 kernel. But the only thing this machine runs is Kodi and MythTV 30.0.

I think if kernel 5.4.x/Intel graphics lockups became a frequent problem for me, and modern software requirements precluded me from using Slack 14.2, I'd simply compile a kernel & modules from the long-term 4.19 series and run Slack-current on this, until the i915 driver, firmware, and kernel 5.x.x issues got sorted out. Is rolling your own kernel & modules a usable option for you?

I run a recent version of -current on my notebook (approximately the same age as yours, but with an Arrandale processor instead of a Sandy Bridge processor), updated today, and I cannot remember that I had difficulties with Intel IGP on that device.

The only thing I remember with IGP is that, on a different computer, I did not manage to passthrough it as a graphics device to a virtual machine (a setup that is/was considered experimental anyway, so I would not count that as a problem). This likely applies to the IGP in my notebook as well, but I have not tested that.

Yes, compiling my own kernel with modules is nothing new to me. And I think I will go for that 4.19 kernel if the stock kernel causes problems. Thank you very much.
also abrixas and tramtrist, tx for the response, that sounds pretty hopeful.
