Slackware 13.37 on raid aic 7902

HI there guys ,

Cant seem to get installing slackware 13.37 on a older server I found with 3 drives and setup with a adaptec aic 7902 adapter

Slackware cd boots and on the last line it says mdadm No arrays found
I can see the drives sda sdb and sdc but cant find the the array to partition it

If I boot with ubuntu I can see the raid there , but would rather shoot myself than install ubuntu

I tried and tried but I am in a corner now ...

any ideas

Regards
Lawrence

Sorry, I thought it was obvious.

The 13.37 kernel comes with these:

$ find /lib/modules -name aic\*
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx_old.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic94xx
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic94xx/aic94xx.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx/aic7xxx.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx/aic79xx.ko

If they are part of the initrd that is used with installation, then a simple combination of 'lspci -v' and 'modprobe aic??xxx' with the appropriate module should do the trick. If not, then you'll have to either put them on your install media or pull the modules over [network] from another host.

There may be parts of this you can adapt also:

@lazardo

thanks again for the reply

I think you don't really understand me ..

1. The kernel is loading the right module when I check lspci -v , and the drives are also seen as

sda sdb sdc sdd all 38gb 10000 rpm SCSI drives

2. A raid array was made on the controller software and is market bootable and build

3. Slackware does not create a device for the raid to install to ..

4. When I boot from a ubuntu disk the raid array is seen and I can install ubuntu ( but I don't want ubuntu )

even tried installed and partitioned the array with ubuntu , rebooted with slackware and I can still not see the partitions or raid array

Lawrence
