Slackware 13.1 - Stream video over Samba shares.

Ok, I thought I could figure this out by myself, but I've just hit a brick wall here. How do I get samba shares to work in Dolphin without having to download the entire file before VLC loads it? I just want to watch a movie from my samba share, and it won't just stream the file.

I've tried installing Smb4k from slackbuild.org, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly either.

Is there anything like gvfs-smb for KDE?

you could try:
* Mount the samba share with mount.cifs (requires root), or edit /etc/fstab and add the samba share with "user" parameter so you can mount it with your regular user - (again, requires root...)
* Install FUSE and SMBnetfs, it doesn't require root rights.

I can play videos stored on a Samba share (server is Slackware 10.0), using VLC, without VLC downloading the whole video first...
The video starts playing almost instantly (only a small delay because of pre-buffering).
I use cifs mount, not smbfs.

I tried out smbfs earlier, and didn't have any luck. I'll try out mount.cifs next. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm sure I'll get this figured out.
