Slackware 13.0 + xmonad + programs open in huge fonts

Whenever I open a program using xmonad, either form dmenu or from the terminal, they always open in huge fonts, mostly with only File Edit View visible on 1280x800 resolution.
This only happens in xmonad, xfce works OK.

How do I reduce the fonts to something readable?

You can add something like the following in your .Xdefaults file:

Code:
Xft*dpi: 96
Xft*antialias: true
Xft*hinting: full

I'm having a similar issue and wonder if it's related. I'm using Slackware 13-32 bit with HDMI to a TV. This same machine worked fine when connected to a HDMI on a monitor during the build process. KDE fonts and popups are very large making KDE unusable for the time being. XFCE seems to work fine.

I've never had to play with the Xdefaults file before.
