Slackware 12.2 fresh install no sound

using a Audigy2 pci card
sound works fine in 12 and 12.1
root has not sound nor does users
both are in audio group and have permissions to the devices.
alsa is configured.

lsmod shows appropriate modules in place.
using kde.

With my Soundblaster Audigy SE, the audio is muted by default for some reason.

Try running:

Code:

alsamixer

And unmuting some tracks until you figure out which one is your master volume. (It turned out to be "Analog Front" for me)

Then if you get your sound working, you can apply the settings at bootup with:

Code:

alsactl store

I remember alsamixer being muted from the start but I checked and
the usual settings were not muted that said. every new release I get
more options in alsamixer turns out they added yet another one and it was muted.

thanks for the reply. had to go way right in alsamixer to find the muted item believe it was audigy1 instead of master or pcm or one of the many others.
