I'm checking support forums on HP's website right now, but I thought I might ask you guys, too:
The HP DesignJet 130nr prints Windows jobs just fine when I go directly across the LAN. It also prints well when I go through my old print spooler (an ancient Linux box running Samba and LPRng).
When I print through Samba on the new (CUPS 1.1) spooler, I get an error that seems to tell me CUPS is trying to process the job somehow instead of using a raw queue. /var/log/cups/error.log gets these lines appended:
Code:
E [01/May/2007:16:50:43 -0700] print_job: Unsupported format 'application/octet-stream'!
I [01/May/2007:16:50:43 -0700] Hint: Do you have the raw file printing rules enabled?
I have set-up all of my CUPS queues for handling raw data. The Windoze print jobs for Ricoh printers flow through just fine, but the spooler mangles and flushes both the HP DesignJet 130nr and the OfficeJet Pro K550 in this manner.
I've tried several different mechanisms for the DeviceURI field, but nothing seems to work there. The job seems to get destroyed before CUPS ever tries to send it onward.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me?
