Slackware 10 problemss

When ever i play mp3 in slackware 10 my computer gets jamm and wave files cannot be played while it does play mpeg files?

Secondly when i use new kernel i get kernal panic error with both 2.67 and 2.64 previously in slackware 9.1 i manage to fix this problem by adding support of resierf and also the sata support. I manage to boot with root=/dev/sda7 parameter but now it does'nt work even though i have tried with hde7,sda7,hda7?

Thirdly i cannot change my monitor resolution the screen gets corrupted if i try.

I am using Intel 865GBF
SyncMaster 753DFX samsung
Gigabyte ATI 9600XT
SATA drive
KDE 3.3
kernel 2.4 it works only by putting by sata drive in legacy mode.

about your first problem, have you tried playing mp3 using kjuke? it is kde's native sound player, and doesn't have issues with arts like some other programs might.

What are you using to play mp3s and wavs? If you haven't tried it yet: xmms.

Second, are you using the 2.6.7 kernel in /testing? If so, use this guide to install it:
http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20040628

Remember, you must add initrd = /boot/initrd.gz to your lilo.conf file after you install 2.6.7.
