Exclamation slackbuild libdvdcss win32 codec; permissions issue

I did the slackbuild of libdvdcss and the win32 codecs (as root, slack 12.0) after which I could no longer startx as regular user. It finally turned out the permissions of /usr/lib, /usr/doc and /usr/include were messed up: the group and others did not have read and exec permissions anymore. I had to
Code:
chmod go+rx /usr/lib /usr/include /usr/doc
to fix the problem.
Thought I'd make this thread in case others stumble on this issue...

What SlackBuild are you refering to? Mine at http://alienbase.nl/slackware/restricted_slackbuilds/ create correct packages. The one at http://slackbuilds.org/repository/12...er-codecs-all/ and http://slackbuilds.org/repository/12...ies/libdvdcss/ I am not certain of, I did not approve those myself.

Cheers, Eric

I just used the one from slackbuilds.org a couple of days ago and it did not mess up my permissions.

The symptoms the OP describes seem very similar to the ones described in this post from last month:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=564082

Basically, with a umask of 0022 everything installed OK, but a umask of 0027 caused problems.

Cmk77, have you modified the umask for the root user?

I was refering to those from slackbuilds.org. They do contain a patch for which they thank Erik Hameleers. I did not modify the root umask, as I had read the thread mentioned by regis_n_bits.
