Slack64 Current : Jan 12, 2017 updates bump libpoppler : atril 1.17.0 fails

Slack64 Current : Using atril 1.17.0 from http://slackware.uk/msb/current/latest/x86_64/extra/
The Thu Jan 12 21:07:23 UTC 2017 updates update poppler with a "Shared library .so-version bump". Opening a PDF with atril will then result in:
Code:
(atril:3355): AtrilDocument-WARNING **: libpoppler.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(atril:3355): AtrilDocument-WARNING **: Cannot load backend 'pdfdocument' since file '/usr/lib64/atril/3/backends/libpdfdocument.so' cannot be read.
After copying the old libpoppler.so.62 opening the PDF via atril results in a segfault.
Instead pinning the poppler package makes (a2ps) printing fail.
The workaround is to install xpdf and symlink atril to it. Hopefully things will be temporarily ...

Mate 1.17 is not a stable release anyway, but a development branch. That's why in Slint I refrained from upgrading pluma. I take it, as well as engrampa, from a Salix repo, version 1.16 that is stable.

Yes, it was linked to the old poppler library and a rebuilt is planned soon.
like what Didier said, it's meant for testing ground and whenever a change is made into current, it has possibilities to break, especially shared library .so bump like poppler which is used in atril.

Guys: this was a heads up, not a complaint ... And of course I know that for stuff on Current rebuilding is the recommended way to go. But I regard building things myself as the last resort. So a workaround as this one will have my preference at least for the time being.

@Didier: Salix targets Slackware 14.2, not Current. Until recently 14.2 stuff could be run on Current, but now that the library versions are diverging again this no longer may be (and in this case no longer is) true.

@willysr: In the past you said that for Current we should do the builds ourselves using your master branch. For as far as I can see your master branch is still 1.16.
But I see you published a "1.17-prep" branch in the last few hours. I assume that branch is targeted at Current. Please confirm.
I also see that you published the rebuild you promised already. Thanks!

Regards, Dick

i have rebuilt all mate packages from scratch few hours ago and it has been uploaded to slackware.uk as usual.
1.17-prep is indeed the new branch i used to prepare for MATE 1.17.

all changes in that branch will go into master branch soon. I need to wait for one more package : mate-icon-theme-faenza since they haven't bumped to 1.17.0. Once that is bumped, master branch will diverge from 14.2-mate-1.16 branch
