slack 9 with NVidia drivers; cannot compile opengl programs
I recently upgraded to slackware 9. My previous version was 8.1. With 8.1 I was using NVidia's video drivers for opengl support. I have written some software that utilizes opengl. On my old setup I was able to compile the software fine with NVidia's driver. With 9 I cannot get my software to compile (or any other opengl software) due to 'undefined reference to...' errors. If I install the Mesa opengl, my code will compile; however, I cannot have direct rendering with X. If I leave my setup alone, I can have direct rendering, but cannot compile code. Can anyone tell me what is going on with this? Thanks in advance.
did u try DLing the NVIDIA driver from http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=linux ? Download the newest one, then go to /etc/X11/XF86Config and edit it. then it should be ok. but i dunno anything about mesa opengl and that kinda stuff. ^_^
I have the latest driver and it works fine. I just can't compile opengl software with it. What I want to know is if I can have both libraries installed at the same time. That is mesa for compiling and Nvidia for running. Apparently Nvidia's gl library is not complete.
maybe you could try this also in the programmers fourm, they may have an idea since your talking about compiling software you made, even if a moderator can keep this thread open for you in both fourms, cause this question is kinda a crossreference between programming and hardware...sorry i don't know an answer, but this may help you to ask the programmers..
I have a NVidia Vanta (Compaq) Video Adapter and I want to know if I have to install something in order to get my Video working right because when I am browsing the internet I can't even see the NVidia Site right
did you install nvidias drivers? and i don't know if you use konqueror, but that doesnt display some sites properly, for example nvidias site...i can't see the nvidia drivers making a webpage view properly, but if i had to guess i would guess you use konqueror.
