. The best thing to do is to get Glut. Glut is window independent library. As you know, to start openGL, you've to create a window first, like in ordinary windows programming. More or less like

With Glut you skip that part of creating windows (which are OS dependent) and concentrate directly into OpenGL.
The very best to do is to get a good book about it, like OpenGL's Redbook. Otherwise you will be stuck with bad commented (yet working) tutorials from the net as nehe's...
