Question Slack-12.0 kernel .config file

Hi,

Can anyone point me to the .config file for the huge-2.6.21.5-smp kernel for Slackware 12.0?

It doesn't seem to be the .config file from /usr/src/linux, not least because building a new kernel using this .config file doesn't support booting from an XFS file system! I assume that this is the config for the generic kernel?

Cheers,
Steve

It's in the [slack-source]/slackware-12.0/slackware/a/kernel-huge-2.6.21.5-i486-2.tgz package. If you have installed that package it is /boot/config-huge-2.6.21.5. But, you may be better off installing the generic kernel rather than the huge. That's what I do, then I boot off the CD/DVD & use the generic-smp config as the basis for a new kernel. Since I want to keep it as generic as possible, all I usually change is to build in the filesystems I will use, so that I don't need an initrd.
Regards,
Bill

wouldn't the .config of the currently running kernel be in /proc/congig.gz ? if so you could get the huge kernel config file by typing `less /proc/config.gz` (or `less /proc/cofig.gz > [some file name]` if you want to save it somewhere) in a terminal.

I'll also have to second TSquaredFs comment about using the generic kernel.

Try 'ls /boot | grep config'. I have config files for generic, generic-smp, huge, and huge-smp there.
