Setting up qmail

I've recently decided to give qmail a try. I have not been able to get Sendmail to do everything I want, plus I found the website http://www.qmailrocks.org .

Now this website is pretty cool. Gave me all kinds of ideas I never had before. I especially like the Squirrelmail section.

The instructions seem fairly straight forward. I've already tried them out and ran into a few problems, but I'm sure I'll be able to get it as I go through it again.

My big question, as I've just recently started compiling my own programs, is how do I change these directions so that I am using checkinstall. I like being able to manage all of my packages through pkgtool, and I lose that ability if I follow the instructions verbatim.

Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get pre-compiled packages for qmail and squirrelmail (and any of the other packages which http://www.qmailrocks.org has me installing)?

Any tips from someone who has an email server set up like this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

There are qmail packages at linuxpackages.net, it's not included in the stock distro because it's not truly open source. I'm not sure how you'd use checkinstall to compile/ install it, if anyone else knows I'd love to hear it too.
