Segmentation faults when viewing images fullscreen with feh
I'm running Slackware 15.0 and just did a full update and upgrade using slackpkg and sboupgrade (from the sbotools pkg) yesterday, in the hopes that the update to imlib2 1.12 would allow me to render .jxl images in feh, and thus finally convert my jpeg folders to the new format, but upon upgrading feh and imlib2, whenever I try to view an image using feh's fullscreen option (-F) it exits with a segmentation fault. This has never happened before.
Also, it still can't render .jxl images so I'm guessing feh 3.6.1 and imlib2 1.12 aren't quite there yet?
Has anyone else has this problem? If so, any idea what's causing it and how to fix it? In case it's relevant, I don't think I touched anything to do with the kernel this upgrade. (Still using Linux 5.15.19-smp).
I'd suggest that you contact the maintainer of feh
Hunter Sezen

and ask for feh to be updated to 3.10.1 https://feh.finalrewind.org

Or, get the source yourself and replace version numbers for each SlackBuild, rebuild and see if that helps
Thanks, the segmentation fault must have just been an error in that specific version of feh or imlib2. Upgrading the version numbers myself in the slackbuilds and building them myself completely solved the issue!
Great advice! Contacting the maintainers and requesting updates for feh and imlib2 can be a proactive step to address the segmentation fault issue. Alternatively, updating the software manually using the source may also help. This way, you can ensure compatibility with the latest versions and hopefully resolve the problem.
