Searching for good slack book

I just started using Slackware and althought it requires at times more work thant RedHat it seems to do a good job. I have migrated my file server and will start on my gateway and firewall servers next.

I was always able to find lots of RH books but I have not been able to find anything on Slackware. Does anyone know of a good one out there. I would also like to get my hands on a good shell scripting book and a general linux admin. Seems like I saw someone recomend a Root, Rune or something for linux. Ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks

I printed the book at www.slackware.com/book and I love just sitting in the living room reading it It is 125 pages but I printed it work on and made our copier print on both sides of the page. SO I now have a nice 60+ page book on Slackware

I will say that it's for version 7 of Slackware I think. Most stuff should be fine and work, but I noticed right off the bat that SuperProbe is no longer included in slackware. So when you get to that point just do lspci instead of SuperProbe

got it? lspci

Ok good!

There is also a Slackware Linux Unleashed somewhere out there that is really good too

Peace,
Whitehat

Not a book, but a great tutorial that, as Whitehat, I also printed out :

You could alternatively buy a Slackware + Slackware Essentials Book for like 25 US bucks... well worthy .

This isn't slackware specifically, but since slack is BSD based, the BSD Handbook is a must-read:

RUTE is here:

http://www.pafis.shh.fi/reference/ma...rute/rute.html

Try and download a copy from somewhere and read it whilst you wait for files to download or programs to compile etc.

Cheers

Thanks for all the links. I ended up getting Slackware unleashed 3rd edition (seems to have better reviews than the 4th) as well as Oreilley's Running Linux and Linux in a Nutshell. The later is a great little command and shell reference. The Running Linux is a good general book but does not really go into a lot of detail. I have not gotten the Unleashed guide yet and hopt to be pleased with the content.

Well , I dont't think that this book will help a lot. Slackware has an BSD-style init but I don't think it is BSD based
