hi,
I have an old toshiba laptop with no wifi card build-in but a pcmcia bay, which I fill with a pcmcia net-card, so I get wifi*ed this way.
when it's about to save batt-energy, how to turn temporally off the 'wifi-system'?
I use the command:
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 wlan0_stop
but.. is this truly saving energy? -I ask coz -aside link to router goes down, the tiny power-light on the pcmcia card remains light despite having no connectivity.
If answer is NO, ..is there a command which turns wifi-system off (in an easy way as to turn it on back again), saving this way energy? (and avoiding the hassle of physically taking pcmcia-card off it bay)
thanx-a-lot
