Reusing a custom built kernel on a new installation

I want to place a parallel Slack 12 installation on my PC. However having spent a fair bit of time configuring and compiling a new kernel, I would just like to use it on the that installation. How do I go about doing this? Do I just copy the new kernel and its modules directory over to the new installation and boot it up or is there more?

Hope someone can shed some light

Thanks

Ok thanks. Yup I would have placed an entry in the bootloader (incidentally I use GRUB :-)).

Thanks for the help once again

Copying the source files and updating the /usr/src/linux symlink might be a good idea as well.

Actually, I will be sticking with the same kernel version and sources from Slack 12 so copying them over won't necessary.
