Oh fsck! After following the kernel version upgrades in -current since 2.6.35.11, mucking about looking at DSDT as well as a BIOS upgrade from the manufacturer supplied version 1.25 to the latest Acer version 1.29 I have finally found that if I simply change from 'vga=789' to 'vga=normal' in lilo.conf then resume from suspend to disk now works for me in Slackware 13.37 RC\pi on this Acer eMachines eM250.
