restoring startup

After installing linux i quickly upgraded to the 2.6.20.3 kernel. afterwards i noticed that my startup was in superlarge fonts and lacked the little tux logo. i was wondering if there was anyway i could get that logo back. i tried everything i could when i recomplied the kernel to get it back but the furthest i got from the black screen was to the large font. any help is much appreciated. Thanks

You need to add support for framebuffer consoles and then logo.

the framebuffer console is enabled and the 224-color logo is enabled and was enabled after the first time i complied the kernel. and i am still getting just huge fonts and no logo. i dont have the framebuffer console rotation enabled nor are any of the complied-in fonts

Graphics Support - Framebuffer Devices?
Vesa VGA graphics support?
Did you change anything in /etc/lilo.conf? Need specify res and colour depth (not vga).

I think you need some fonts. The VGA 8x8 and 8x16 at least.

Try starting with the config from the slackware 2.6 kernel (in the /boot directory), and adjusting that. You're less likely to miss something.
