I've been pointed to a problem (Thanks @kgha) with elogind-255.4 & earlier. An upgrade to elogind-255.4-1 (a bugfix release) apparently solves it.

Not sure that the 255.4-1 bugfix release solves it - tried recompiling elogind from that source and no difference, see https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...9/#post6495677
Seems as if this issue has to do with both elogind and polkit and maybe something else...

Has anyone noticed any problems with WiFi not working after hibernation? I am running KDE and typically hibernate from the menu. After waking no WiFi SSIDs are listed. I tried turning off WiFi and back on without success. I noticed the problem yesterday after I updated. Thought maybe there was an issue with kernel 6.2.26. I updated to kernel 6.2.27 today and still having the problem. Could this behavior be related to elogind?

Thanks in advance!

Its time to swith to pipewire as default sound server ?

What arround love for /testing/grub ?

After valgrind adition no need to rebuild some things to cathc this support ?

If im not wrong , all gstreamer things detect and use valgrib if are present , only need to be rebuild , but a lot of other things can benefit of this valgrind adition.

Archlinux , finally go up to python-3.12 , probably have all required patches , but o think some month more waiting is not bad strategy to go up.

Thanks for ear the community.

It may not be just elogind. After the post on mate session problem and wifi reconnect I noticed the same problems under lxqt and then back to my trusty xfce. I'm on eth0 wired and network as well as network applet notification is disabled. I can restart dhcp and get back on line but networkmanager is still disabled even with '/etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager restart'.
Back around 2016 pulse audio exhibited a similar issue and the problem was polkit. On the other hand, networkmanager may be a problem after the recent updates.

In this thread https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...nt-4175735916/

A problem with recent versions of polkit (≥123) has been fingered, and elogind-255 has a bugfix, 255.4-r1.

Both libinput and synaptics are installed, and because of the numbering scheme in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d, synaptics is enabled by default. Making a 40-libinput.conf symlink in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d enables libinput without adding or removing system files. Would it make sense to add a setup script along the lines of the elvis/nvi/vim selector to easily pick one or the other?

IMHO such a selection dialog would be slightly annoying for all those users installing Slackware on something else than a laptop with synaptics hardware. For those few left with such laptops it would for most of them be confusing. I would prefer a script doing an automatic good choice, possibly by looking at which hardware is installed in the machine. Such automatic configuration could be complemented with some more lines describing how to change the automatic configuration in the 6.2 chapter about configuring X in the Slackware-HOWTO included on the installation media.

regards Henrik

As already mentioned, I've recompiled elogind with latest (bugfixed) source, but that doesn't solve this issue.

Agree with you for GRUB 2.12, Valgrind and Python 3.12

For many years we had only alsa.

Then pulseaudio was added to the mix.

Then pipewire was added to the mix.

Then wireplumber was added to the mix.

Is it time to KISS by switching back to just alsa ?

Can we have bluetooth audio w/o PA or WP?
