fontconfig-2.12.3

https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/fontconfig/

https://www.freedesktop.org/software...-2.12.3.tar.gz

Just a heads up, fontconfig-2.12.1 that is in -current fails to build due to changes in glibc-2.25. This has been fixed with this update, however it now fails to build against gperf-3.1. You will need to add this commit to fix building with gperf-3.1. More than likely though there will be another new version that fixes all of this before -current goes stable.

Inconsistency in rc.S|6|M

rc.S has PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin
rc.6 has PATH=/sbin:/etc:/bin:/usr/bin

Which can lead to unexpected "command not found" in any customised rc.* scripts. Please can these two be made consistent.

Also (though admittedly this one is a little more work), I'd be delighted to see a standard calling convention adopted for the subordinate rc.* scripts across all of rc.S|6|M. We currently use a combination of,
  • . /etc/rc.d/rc.<script>
  • sh /etc/rc.d/rc.<script>
  • /bin/sh /etc/rc.d/rc.<script>
  • /etc/rc.d/rc.<script>
... and I'd like to see the last form adopted for everything. Rationale being:
  1. Each subscript would be able to honour its #! interpreter specification line.
  2. Each subscript could safely change the PATH or other environment variables without fear of corrupting the calling shell environment.
  3. It's generally more resilient to failures, syntax mistakes, or a mistaken call to exit.

As one of the few remaining non systemd distro I think it's important that we set a good example with our rc.* scripts and IMO sanitising this would be a good start. (It's actually a change I made here locally before, but as I follow current, continually having to reapply it became too much effort).

Yeah, nice Firefox!

BUT, how about this damned RUST compiler, which is required to compile a "modern" Firefox?

If that helps avoid FF looking unresponsive until I close some tab, I'd consider of course that being a big plus.

I compiled firefox-54.0 on Slackware 14.2 with rust and cargo from SBo, using slightly modified SlackBuild from -current.
Now I'm testing ;-)
