qt and qtella


I wanted to install qtella but it needs qt from here:

http://www.trolltech.com/download/qt/x11.html

But now my system is incredibly slow, How can I remove qt?

I tried to do a whereis qt but it doesnt give any output.

qt isn't a program in itself, so whereis is no use. you uninstall it the opposite way you installed it... which method did you use?

./configure && make && make install && make clean

You might be able to uninstall it through the source directory where you ran the ./configure && make && etc., but run 'make uninstall' instead...........

I went back into the qt-x11 directory and it wouldnt do anything, I cant copy/paste the errors I got because I dont know how through xterm? It basically said there was no rule to uninstall, then says "error 2'

Okay, that was a shot in the dark..................it only works sometimes if there is an uninstall rule provided by the developers.....

But qt is easy to remove since it installs itself into one directory............look for either /usr/lib/qt-<version> or /usr/local/lib/qt-<version> and delete that directory............There might be a qt directory in /usr/doc or /usr/local/doc but the main directory is in one of the lib directories........

PS: The directory might just be named qt without the version number attached........
