problems with kernel2.6.4

i've install new kernel on my slackware 9.1, after rebooting, i encouter some problems.
1st, my ethernet card cannot use. i've try dhcpd but nothing changed. i try lsmod, surprisingly, no mod is loaded! but my usb port and other devices are working properly. what can i do to change it?
2nd, the gnome-systemmonitor cannot even detect my 512RAM!
i'm scratching my head to get this done. can someone help me?

For your network adapter:

Goto /etc/rc.d (cd /etc/rc.d)
Make a new rc.netdevice file (pico rc.netdevice)
Put this into the rc.netdevice file:

#!/bin/sh
/sbin/modprobe {network module name here}

Save the file (Ctrl - X in pico)

Make it executable (chmod +x rc.netdevice)

reboot. Should work now.

You don't need to make a new file for that.
You can just edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules

Do you know what kind of netwerk card you have? (dmesg lspci)
Have you included this in your 2.6.4 kernel?

If you have not: recompile your kernel with the support
If you have compiled it as module load it with modprobe <modulename>
If you have compiled it into the kernel it should work now

As the rc.netdevice is always run from the rc.modules it will not make much difference. And i think this is somewhat clearer.
