Question Problems starting XFCE and MATE after the latest current (August 2015)

Not really sure what is going on with my system. It appears that after the latest updates to -current, I can no longer boot into XFCE or MATE. All I get is a black screen on XFCE, and a busy cursor with a black screen on MATE.

I've been troubleshooting trying to see what has caused this. I have created a new user and the same behavior occurred. Some of the things that I have noticed is that every time I try starting either DM, an instance of bash starts running at 100%. In addition, I get this gnome-keyring-daemon processes also continue to accumulate based on how many times I try to start X.
None of these "zombie" processes go away until I manually kill them or force a reboot.

I am at a loss as to what is going on. None of my partitions are full. I'm using fluxbox for the time being.

You need to recompile several MATE packages due to library changes in current

Already rebuilt MATE from source. Still no luck.

you need to replace all libpng14 with libpng in /usr/lib or /usr/lib64 before recompiling MATE since it also depends on libraries instaled on your machine

I threw in the towel. My setup wasn't completely clean (custom packages and such). So, no telling what exactly went foul. I re-installed current and I have a working system again. Thanks for the help willy as always.
