Problems installing fenris/how can i get a non-stripped glibc?

I was trying to install fenris on my slackware 10.0 box and it complains that the glibc is stripped (which it is, file confirms that.) I forced it to keep making anyway but it failed with some error which seems related to not being able to read info from the libc. I tried downloading a slack pack which claims to be the debug version of glibc 2.3.2, but the so is byte-identical to the normal slackware version (ie: its stripped). I tried compiling glibc 2.3.2 from source and it produced non-stripped binaries. when i tried to make install them things got bery broken, very fast I reinstalled the normal glibc package, which now allows it boot and run X but now ldconfig is broken. Any ideas?

look at /etc/ld.so.conf file...........there should be
a list of $PATH to various libraries

if it empty , look for its backup......

ld.so.conf~ and just re-name it ...............

Thanks for the reply but it turned out i had two ldconfig binaries, one which was nearer the begining of the $PATH variable and happened to be the messed one from by glibc source adventure

Any ideas on getting a non-stripped glibc and/or getting fenris to make.
