Unhappy Problem with ZipSlack

Hi!

I'm newbie in Linux matters...

I'm trying to install ZipSlack. I followed the instructions detailed but I get some errors.

The system begins to load but at some points I get the following messages:

cannot execute /sbin/agetty (This appears in a lot of lines)

Even though, this file exists.

UMSDOS: out of sync, deleting dev/initctl

after these it hangs.

The PC is a HP Vectra 486 33/N with 20 Mb of RAM and 1Gb IDE disk.
It has an external SCSI CD-ROM.

Thank you for your help.

The version is ZipSlack 9

Did you change the root=/dev/_da_ to reflect your computer's linux partition?
If not, do you suppose you could need a different boot image than the plain vmlinuz that is given with zipslack? You can just copy any of the precompiled ones from the disk sets onto your zipslack installation in place of vmlinuz

The first place to check out is the linux.bat file. If that is OK, check if you need a special boot image.

Solved

Thanks. I could solve the problem.

I used Slackware 7.1 and I could boot without problems. The only remain problem was to detect network card and Adaptec 1542. I solved this uncommenting the lines for these modules, in rc.modules file indicating parameters (io base, IRQ,etc) for both cards.

Thanks anyway.
