I have a wierd problem on a new installed slackware system. When I try to enter menu "Remove" it scans the system for a little while, then it says "NO PACKAGES REMOVED, hit OK to return to the main menu". As we all know it should present me with a listing of packages that I can select and remove. (I'm certain that I don't double tap the return key when I enter the Remove menu... so that can't be the problem.)
Of course removepkg in command line is sufficient, but I'd like to work out this problem.
Are there packages that are required for pkgtool to run 100%? All other menu items but Remove seems to work ok.
hhmm, that is odd, the pkgtool uses the packages list from.........
/var/log/packages
look in this directory and see IF anything is there...........
also, the KDE package manager also uses the listing from
/var/log/packages...............
let me look thru my slack boxes and see what else could be wrong.....
Try to use the mouse to manipulate pkgtool. The program named gpm is started at boot (if u selected it at the install) and allows you to use the mouse in text mode.
320mb: /var/log/packages is ok. It should be as all *pkg commands from command prompt works just fine.
Linux.tar.gz: unfortunately the gpm service is not running as this is a server, and all uneeded services are shut down. Only a keyboard is connected though.
