This is for anyconnect-linux64-4.9.06037. I have two computers, one with Slackware64 14.2 and the other with Slackware64-current. My problem is with the -current install. (I just started the 14.2 computer and the VPN works on that one) I used the VPN yesterday without problem. I started my computer today and tried to log on to the VPN and got this error message:
Quote:
The service provider in your current location is restricting access to the Internet.
You need to log on with the service provider before you can establish a VPN session.
You can try this by visiting any website with your browser.

I found this
doc from Cisco and the error is related to captive portal detection, which is how public wifi hotspots that you have to pay for, like at a hotel, make sure that you're a paying customer. I am at home, I have not changed my location where I logged onto the VPN since yesterday.
I did use slackpkg update either yesterday or the day before and I'm wondering if there is something that could change in Slackware network configuration with a slackpkg update that could affect how the VPN works? I'm not saying there is and if there is, I have no idea what it is, but I called the ISP and they said it wasn't their fault and to their credit, the other VPN in the house is working without problem. And I called my help desk for my org that provides the VPN and the guy was clueless about the error, so I'm just kind of grasping at straws about why the VPN goes from functional to non-functional without any other obvious changes.
