Question printer problem Epson Stylus C42UX not printing :(

Hi there,

In the last 3 weeks I've managed to get Slack 9.1 working very nicely indeed on my Laptop (Samsung V20 XTC).

My only problem now is printing!

I have set up my printer using the CUPS server but when I print the print head 'acts' like it's printing but only prints top and bottom lines

The test page prints fine btw.

Please help, I really am trying hard not ask simple questions like this

I know it's sad to reply to your own thread twice but I am desperate

If I try to drag a file into the jobs cue I get this message:

The file format text/plain is not directly supported by the current print system. KDE can try to convert this file automatically to a supported format. But you can still try to send the file to the printer without any conversion. Do you want KDE to try to convert this file to application/postscript?

Now surely CUPS supports plain text printing? Please help, I know it will be something simple but I just can't find it!

You can try the gnome-cups-manager and libgnomecups packages here http://ooo.toastyx.net/
Install them then run gnome-cups-manager.

I don't know if you have to be running gnome to use them but you can try them out. If they don't work in kde you can go into gnome and try them for troubleshooting purposes.
