Then you also have to remove libcanberra as it also comes from Lennart.

Thanks for the libcanberra tip. Fortunately, I never had to install it. :-)

I get it that Lennart is an arrogant upstart who doesn't play nice with other but one has to give the devil his due... the man can code. Even if we disregard his contributions through Freedesktop as team effort, he has written some potent code (not just systemd) and while we're on that subject let that sink in. The man wrote an entire Linux Init System pretty much all by himself with help from one other guy, and they did it in less than one year. I dislike almost everything about systemd, even it's philosophy and end goals, but it is a major contribution nonetheless and something of a monumental effort that has enjoyed surprising success.

Incidentally it should be noted that apart from other controversial software created by him, he has deeply influenced cgroups containers and those are so far behind the scenes that you may not even realize what your computing life would be without them in 2021 and going forward. I hate Pulseaudio but must recognize it has improved but I will drop it, likely for Pipewire, when Slackware 15 is final. However, I do not see any future in removing cgroup support. It will only become more important IMHO.

Well this prompted me to try swapping out pulse-audio for pipewire on a Fedora 33 system and it worked a treat. Kudos to the OP for their successful experimentation. I found it insteresting. I may even giving it a go on Slackware at some point (perhaps after current becomes stable), although I'm about as enthusiastic about installing systemd-libs as I was installing logind, which is to say not very. But c'est la vie.
