PHP is not working right

Have a 100% workable php page, which uses global variables such as $GET_METHOD or something like that. But when I try to echo "$GET_METHOD" it returns no value. Thought that in php.ini global variables are not allowed, but they are. Have no idea what else to do to make it work. Please, help.

Not sure if you did, but if you edit php.ini, you have to restart apache.
