Partition for Windows

On my workstation i have one too big partition for Linux (40 GB of 40 GB - my hard has 40 GB).Now i want to create a Windows partition without destroying the data.How can i do this ? and after a Windows partition what do you advice me to do with the remaining space ?

To do resizing of your current linux partition u could use "parted". It can resize linux as well as windows partitions. Check out this link

Maybe you could be a little specific. What do you want to do with your system. Do you want to dual boot or what?

i don't want a dual boot system ; i just want to switch between Linux and windows without restarting my PC.

Can't be done. The act of booting to either Linux or Windows renders the other OS dormant. You have to restart to boot into the other OS.

All I could suggest is you install Windows to one pc, Linux to another and use a kvm switch to jump between 2 booted pcs.

you might also look into vmware. it is a commercial product however.
