OS can't boot to hda1

I just installed Slackware onto my old OLD computer (32mb ram, 233mhz processor, 200 watt power supply, 2x usb 1.0) and for some reason whenever I go to start the OS, I get this message:

Quote:
GFS2: Unrecognized block device or mount point /dev/root
GFS2: gfs2 mount does not exist.
VFS: Cannot open root device "300" or unknown-block(3,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:
0300 20015856 hda driver: ide-disk
0301 16868218 hda1
0302 3140707 hda2
0340 4194302 hdb driver: ide-cdrom
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,0)
and then I can't do anything.

Is there some way I can get past this and startup slackware ONCE?

P.s. This is on a 20 GB hard drive and I have about 3GB taken for my Linux Swap.

Hi,

You should have at least 64MB of RAM. You need a initrd. Read the '/boot/README.initrd' to see how. You can boot using your install cd1.
