No Woof!!

I've just installed slackware 9.1.

But now I have this sound problem:

I can hear that 4 speakers are working but the subwoofer is either not working or it's volume is at a very low level. (using xmms and playing a mp3)

Please help

Forgot to say I've got a C-media CMI8738 soundcard and a 5.1 speaker setup.

I think you have to play with alsamixer and its various channel
