New to Slackware

I've heard that slackware is a good tradtional and clean distribution so I'm going to give it a shot.

If I just want to run a samba file server, what packages do I choose if I don't want any unnecessary packages installed.

Choose all base packages and all the networking packages. That's all you'd need.
