Network card help

I'm new to linux, so i installed slackware to learn the hard way, and i have 3 books, but i can't find any info in my linux books about this.

I just installed slackware9, and added a normal user, but now I am having problems getting my network card to work.

FYI, i am using bare.i kernal

BTW, should i have installed the tcp packages?

Never mind, reinstalled and did a full package install, works now
