This is what i get for iwconfig;

ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"Slackware" Nickname:"Slackware"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.422 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated

Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

and this is what i put in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf;

im not sure if this is right,i can pick up networks around me using kwifi manager.but my wireless light is out and im not sure if its working properly,so i could use some help setting this up.

Yes, very annoying.
The web server that hosts my Wiki and my Blog (as well as the Slackware Book and other stuff) has changed the IP address but the DNS entries for slackbook.org have not been adjusted. The admin responsible for this change can apparently not be contacted at the moment...

In the meantime, http://wiki.alienbase.nl/ has a copy of the wiki pages.

I also use an Atheros card. I'd suggest that you install WICD. Make sure to read the documentation that comes with the tarball, place the script they provide into /etc/rc.d/rc.local and comment out the card configs in rc.inet1.conf as instructed.

Works like a charm for me.
