Mutt in Slackware 12.2--no SMTP?

Hello Everyone,
I decided to try out slackware, and I am having difficulty getting mutt to send my emails via
SMTP and GMAIL. I have read a lot of threads about it, but I haven't seend this problem yet.
I'm guessing I am missing some dependency! Here are the errors I get about my .muttrc:

Code:
#Error in /home/glen/.muttrc, Zeile 89: trash: Unknown variable.
#Error in /home/glen/.muttrc, Zeile 94: imap_check_subscribed: Unknown variable.
#Error in /home/glen/.muttrc, Zeile 97: smtp_url: Unknown variable.
#Error in /home/glen/.muttrc, Zeile 98: smtp_pass: Unknown variable.
#Error in /home/glen/.muttrc, Zeile 100: header_cache: Unknown variable.
#Error in /home/glen/.muttrc, Zeile 101: message_cachedir: Unknown variable.
#source: Error in /home/glen/.muttrc
I translated it from the German, so, sorry if it isn't exactly what mutt would report in
English.

Thanks for your help!

-Glen

Hi,

These errors in your .muttrc refer to patches not available in the stock mutt for 12.2 as well as configure options that are either not available for the slightly aged mutt available to slackware or have not been specified in PV's script.

What I have done myself is to grab the lastest dev source for mutt:

Code:
 wget ftp://ftp.mutt.org/mutt/devel/mutt-1.5.19.tar.gz
and tweak PV's script to fit.

Thanks for the help, but no dice... I managed to get that version of mutt installed, but now I
have even lost the IMAP functionality. I am going to revert to the slackware version for the
time being, but I would appreciate any insight on this problem! Thanks.

[EDIT:] I think I know what I am missing. How do I compile it with these options? Looking at the properties
of my mutt on Ubuntu, it says these options were compiled in. I even found the smtp.c code in the untarred
directory. I am a bit new to compiling source! Thanks...

just type
./configure --help

it's going to give you a complete list of configuration options.
Optinal items are set basically by adding --with-option or --enable-option
you'll find them there.

for example to install something in /usr instead of the default /usr/local
you'd do ./configure --prefix=/usr

and check mutt's documentation for more info on the options.

Hi!
Thanks for the help! It was pretty much self explanatory once I did ./configure --help. It is
working like a charm now! =)

Great news! I believe that the 'trash' patch may not work with the newer mutt though.
