multiple sessions/usrs using KDM

Good evening folks.

Running slackware 10 ( I LIKE IT A LOT!!! - and here i thought 9.1 was good!! )
(I think) This is my first post since I installed ver. 10 - I think I'm getting better at this Linux stuff

Anyway, I got KDM loading on startup. everyone can shutdown, etc... all is well... except:

(background)
Starting up in init3 I could hit ctrl-alt-f2 and login as anather user and type startx -- :1
Using gdm, I could click on 'new login' via the KDE menu and log in under a different user and have an X session on ctrl-alt-f8

Here is where the problem arises using KDM (which gives me everything I and the famlily needs/wants except....

Say I login and my X session is using ctrl-atl-f7 - as it should.

When I hit ctrl-alt-f2 I get a blank screen with a curser in the upper left corner (due to the init4), and the same with ctrl-alt-f8 (no X session started). I can NOT find a way to start a second X session using a different user. If I go to the console and type in startx -- :1, I log in again, it does not give me a chance to log in as a different user - so "I" am on ctrl-alt-f7 and ctrl-alt-f8.

So.. How can a different user login and get an X session on ctrl-alt-f8 using KDM????
I have tried and tried to find the answer.. so here I am.

Many thanks in advance - tw
p.s. - I hope I didn't make my question too cryptic - just worried I didn't make my self clear.

If you want more tty consoles in init 4 (F1,F2,F3...) you can edit /etc/inittab :
change :
c1:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty1 linux
to :
c1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty1 linux
(add run level 4)
And do the same for the next 4 lines.

After that you can login with 2 or more session in X
startx -- :0
startx -- :1
startx -- :2
...
