Multilib on current

Hello!

Is it possible to install multilib on the current build?
I bricked up my stuff trying to make it work, so I had to go back to stable.
Sadly I need to be on current because I need the latest glibc version.

I’m just wondering if someone has been able to make multilib on slackware work, is it possible to do?

Peace

Yup. I and a few others are using multilib and current. When you say you bricked things, what happened? Did you accidentally mix repositories? (Like from 15 and current?)

Yeah, it was the first time I tried installing multilib. I used the 15.0 packages and immediately realized that I goofed up when it gave me errors after installing them, got a black screen almost immediately.

I checked the wiki again and I now see that there’s a section for current, I should not be doing these things while tired.

I’m going to try doing it properly tomorrow.
Was it pretty much the same to get it running on current, or did you have to do anything special?

Thank you

Eric provides multilib packages for current, easiest way is like this...
Code:
cd /tmp
mkdir multilib
cd multilib
wget -r -np -nd -l1 --accept=*.t?z http://www.slackware.com/~alien/multilib/current/
lftp -c "open http://www.slackware.com/~alien/multilib/current/ ; mirror slackware64-compat32/"
upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new *.t?z
upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new slackware64-compat32/*-compat32/*.t?z

Thank you, I will try this.

Yep. Just be sure to change which mirror you're using. I heartily recommend slackpkg+ for management until you know what you're doing. Alien Bob's got a great writeup on it: https://alien.slackbook.org/blog/int...-repositories/

I strongly advice you to take a close look at Eric's guide here: https://wiki.alienbase.nl/doku.php?i...kware:multilib

This is the guide I usually follow, I think it's very clear and simple.

Good luck!
