msttfcorefonts for Slackware 14

I use Wine and MSPaint in Linux and I have msttcorefonts installed so the software works correctly. I'd like to use the same software in Slackware,
and I'd like to have msttcorefonts.

Is there a package for those fonts or a close substitute?

Thanks.

Larry

Search for 'webcore-fonts' on Slackbuilds.org, I think that's what you are looking for.

Alien_Bob also has these available on his TAPER server. http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/pe...lds/corefonts/

To use the fonts you already have in Wine:
1. Run mkfontscale and mkfontdir in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts (if this is where the fonts reside)
2. Create a symlink with 'ln -s ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts /usr/share/fonts/winefonts'
3. Create a file /etc/fonts/local.conf containing:
Code:
      <dir>/usr/share/fonts/winefonts</dir>
4 Upon reboot, your rebuilt font cache should then contain the fonts. (Check with 'fc-list | grep winefonts')

Looks like they are only for 13.1. Off course, this doesn't mean it won't work on 14.

It's a fscking font! Of course it will work in 14.0.

Basically, you have two choices here.
  1. The msttcorefonts package exists more or less in any distribution and packages basic MS fonts like Arial, Times New Roman, Comic Sans, Trebuchet, etc.
  2. Dugan Chen's webcore-fonts (check it out on SlackBuilds.org) contains all these fonts, plus a rather nice set of more recent MS fonts from Vista and Seven, like Calibri for example.

I prefer using the webcore-fonts package for better compatibility with documents made with recent versions of MS Office.
