Smile mount ntfs disks

dear friends,

I am trying to mount two ntfs partitions, this is my fstab:
Code:
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win ntfs-3g umask=000 1 0
/dev/hda5 /mnt/data ntfs-3g umask=000 1 0
This is not working, I have to use root to mount those partitions by entering the following command:
Code:
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/hda5 /mnt/dados/ -o force
So, question is, is there some way of doing that automatically? I mean, by editing fstab file?

Thank you!

odd, this works for me
Code:
/dev/sda? /mnt/windows ntfs-3g defaults 0 0
after i made the folder /mnt/windows

and ntfs-3g IS installed ?

I presume ntfs-3g is installed and working properly since you can force mounting (although you're using a different mount point for some reason). What kind of error are you getting when fstab doesn't work?

well fedora dose not realy give an error ( there is one in the boot log someplace ) .It just dose not auto mount ( autofs is on for run level 3,4,5). I just overrode it with fstab .

and you did make the folders " /mnt/win " and " /mnt/data " first
-- try this ---as root
Code:
chown username:username /mnt/win
chown username:username /mnt/data
then edit fstab and use this "umask=022 0 0"

The fact that it only mounts with the "force" option probably means that something is wrong with the volume itself. It is most likely not marked as clean, which would happen if you didn't properly unmount it when it was connected to a Windows machine.

You can simply give the force command to fstab and have it mount that way, but you should really check the filesystems under Windows if at all possible.

It is not clear... what 'is not working' ?
From the original fstab above, one should be able to mount the ntfs partitions with:
mount /mnt/win
mount /mnt/data

You mean mount partitions at boot ? They should mount automatically at boot if I refer to the posted fstab
Maybe one thing that could prevent them to be mounted at boot could be the order of line in fstab
for example, if those line are before the line that mount the partition where the mount points are...

Ok, thank you all for your time, problem fixed.

fstab now looks like John VV's, pretty simple. Thank you.
