More ALSA Problems

Ok today I have installed Slack 9.1. Then I used swaret to upgrade the kernel to 2.4.25 and everything went fine. With the vanilla kernel i was able to run alsaconf and configure it for my emu10k1 card. Problems arose when I recompiled my kernel. Sound is configured as a module. When I run alsaconf now I am told it cannot find any modules anywhere for any card. I used the directions by DaOne to recompile my kernel. I have two kernels Linux.old and Linux. In the Makefile Extraversions is called SlackLinux.

Is my problem that when I reinstall the ALSA packages using package tool pkgtool doesnt put the divers in the proper place? the proper place being 2.4.66SlackLinux because that's the kernel i am booting?

if that is my problem how do i correct it

Thanks

I had a similar problem when I upgraded with Swaret, it added the new Alsa drivers. I'm not sure if the drivers are the exact problem, but I uninstalled the new one's and reinstalled the original drivers. Then I edited Swaret config file located in /etc and in the Exclude area put in, Exclude=alsa.

That solved my problem.
