Merging driver w/ kernel question

I d/led pcmcia drivers and found out that I don't have a certain module that's nevessary for the drivers to work. So I am going to recompile my 2.6.10 kernel, however I would like to merge the pcmcia drivers, but I have no clue how to do so, could anyone point out to me how to? thanks

If you want to merge the code with the kernel, it will be almost impossible if you don't have knowledge about the kernel source, unless of course, that there's a patch for the kernel source for your specific kernel version.
You can however (if the driver allows and i guess it does) to compile the driver as module after recompiling your kernel and it will be created to match the new one.

so the driver could just be loaded as a module, after having recompiled my kernel?

Yes, but after recompiling the kernel you must boot with it and recompile the module.
