man command missing

I just installed Slackware 12 with just "a" package on an old Thinkpad. When I type man, find, info(may be more), it said "command not found", while others like ls, cat, vi, ... are fine. What could be the problem.

installation details.
I installed Slackware 12 on a machine where MS Windows 5.0 exists. I used GRUB to install the huge.s kernel image. After installation, could not boot in Slackware from LILO. I think this may refer to the problem in FAQ that the default kernel it installed is different from what I used to setup, i.e. huge.s. The solution is supposed to be recompile the kernel. I don't want to compile kernel for now, so I booted into Windows again and used GRUB to boot Slackware like this,
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-huge-2.6.21.5 root=/dev/hda2 ro
And it booted, then I found the problem above. is it related to what I did for installation?

Thank you!

Check your PATH:
echo $PATH

You may not have the directories which contain the missing programs on your PATH.

`man` is in the "AP" series, not in "A".

For the man package, you need at least to install part of the "ap" series.
Just the "a" series is making it very minimalistic.

I'd suggest, if you need man at all, that you install more than just the "a" package series so as to get yourself a useful system at all.

The "a" series is the bare minimum to get slackware up and running. You may want to install at least some of their packages from the following series,
ap -applications
d - development
e - emacs
l - shared libraries
n - networking

These series are optional, depending on your needs
f - FAQs
k - kernel source and headers
kde - The KDE desktop environment for X and associated programs
kdei - KDE internationalisation
t - tetex and xfig
tcl - TCL and associated programs
x - XOrg X server
xap - X applications (and window managers)
y - games

Thank you very much for your input! I found man related packages in ap. Thanks a lot.

I have slackware 12 installed in an older thinkpad (233MHz, 64MB, 2GB for linux). So I really want to cut down the size to both boot speed and save space. while I do need network through a PCMCIA card bus to connect to LAN. I am a liitle confused, since slackware 12 does not offer a big tcpip package like 11 does. So I tried to installed the following packages to a first try:
ethtool
iputils
net-tools
network-scripts
tcp_wrappers
telnet
lynx

after installation, i can only ping local 127.0.0.1 but any other remote ip. Maybe I should add more packages, could you please give me some sugguestions? Thank you very much!
