Logitech MX500 mouse buttons

I am wondering if there is a way to make the buttons on the mouse to behave the way they would when used in Windows. There are 2 thumb buttons that can use to go forward and back in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. Can this work with Mozilla/Nautilus?

At present, the Back button is mapped to the button 3 of the mouse and the forward button is mapped is mouse 2.

Hope someone can look into this. TIA

Matt

in your /etc/X11/XF86Config try different options under the mouse section like
Option Buttons "4"
Option Buttons "5"
Option Buttons "6"

etc.. 5 will be used for the wheel if it has one

how to play with the options

I am not sure about how to set the button to do back and forward in Mozilla/ Nautilus. I am new to linux so any directions of text to put in the xf86Config would be best. Thanks a lot!

You could try this. I have been trying to get my MX700 working for ages, and I`ve yet to try this but I`m confident it will work (I will try as soon as my slackware ISO is done downloading )
