I don't know if this has been said allready, but I really hate how there is no Slackware branding being crammed down my throat whnever I use my computer. How am I supposed to know what distro I'm using without someone reminding me all the time? Dispicable.

Every time I've tried another distro... after living for more than 3 years with my old slack-box (P II, 256 Mb RAM) I felt like coming home at my slack machine.
Everything is in the right place, basic applications are always here to let me do my job... no flashing lights, no wizards...
Slackware is clear and simple.
Slackware is... slackware.

I can break ubuntu (tho it don't need much help), suse (with help from yast) and fedora...

Breaking Slackware, well that takes work, hard work.

I think the only way I can crash this PC is to burn a data cd, install an OS into qemu, and run an aide check w/tiger while listening to a cd and compiling a new kernel, and making a tar of a 10 gig partition and run UT2k4 all at the same time....hahah multi-tasking.

I love 11.0, I have now finish building my own distro from it, a live cd which I can install to the hard drive. It's stable, lean, clean and fast, Pat has done a fantastic job, 9.0 and 10.0 where great, but 11.0 takes the cake for me.

My laptop doesn't have a floppy drive, and I'm unable to boot any of the CDs kernels with USB or PCMCIA enabled, won't you please think of us poor non-legacy folk? *sniff*

Yeah, well everyone knows freeware is not to be trusted in the first place. Rather than a 'Pro' version I vote for an 'Enterprise' version will full RPM packaging support. And Fedora Directory Server. Should probably enable AIGLX/XGL+Compiz just to make sure corporate realises that Slack Enterprise is ready for the desktop.

I'm having a problem with my slackware 11.0 i have instaled slack on my hp dv8000 laptop every thing runs well at the boot execpt the 2.6 modules are not found so i have installed the slack pack and reboot after this wen the computer boot's up and he starts the pcmcia services the screen goes black and it stops ther i have booted with de cd and read the dmsg log and it confirms stops in the pcmcia services so i have removed the pcmciautils package and the system boots up fine but without the pcmcia i have recompiled the kernel and reisntaled the pcmciautils and same happends with pcmcia-cs same thing .. i have a yeeta socket based pcmcia slot on my laptop i would like to ask if any one had this problem and how do i get this working this is the only thing i cant get it working sinces i have tryed slack...
please help thanks in advanced and sorry the bad ing.

Here i thought this was "Living with Slackware 11" =]

I hate how there is no activation required when installing slackware and there's no dependency issues with packages. I miss tearing my hair out of my head.

I'm really fed up with there not being a constant nagging prompt for me to update my system. Nothing is taunting me to update my kernel or xorg so that the next time I boot, I need to reconfigure my system....

Another thing that gets me is that my computer is up and waiting for me to login in under 40 seconds. When I turn my computer on I need time to get my coffee and get comfortable. It's just a waste of time to have it just sitting there when it could be using that time more efficiently. It brings up another point as well. Why not use that time to do things that it "thinks" I want it to do for several minutes and I can go back over it later to see if I'm happy with it? Man, I've got to do everything...

I wonder if i could live without my windows box

although i have slackware, and i love slackware, but still
i will miss the productivity when i used windows

I used this software under windows:

1. Internet Download Manager
2. Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash, and Fireworks
3. MS Office
4. PHP and MySQL (lastest)
5. Apache
6. The last but not the least, Online Games


although i have successfully run flash and dreamweaver in linux
the font isn't good, i even run photoshop
But in terms of reliability, slackware rocks.
But my winXP is installed with deepfreeze, so it is still secured
nevertheless, i have only one problem with linux
that is: SOFTWARES and GAMES!!!!!

I used linux for servers, because our server is SUSE Linux 9.3
I'm planning to switch to slackware, by the way, i mean
internet server or router,
I will have a copy of slackware 11 by next year
it takes a long time for download lolz, i downloaded it with
windows.

I love slackware, but the people around me is using windows
just to work around, i also used windows, except the server.
